One Year in Our Home: Building Process & Tour

It's been almost a full year since we built and moved into our current house. It has been such a fun journey raising Eden and making this house a home. I promised this blog post a long time ago, bu, life got in the way, and I am just now getting around to publishing this. We had a fabulous experience with our builder and are excited for years to come in this house.

The pics shared in this post are simply some of my favorite memories from this past year. For more home content, room tours, and more specific financial info/tips check out my Instagram @thefrugalfernandez here!

We chose to build our home because it was a more affordable option for us. We sacrificed location for "newness" and are super happy with our decision. We are not "fixer-uppers" or "DIY" people, so having a brand new home (with a warranty) was perfect for us.

We saved money and rented for 4 years before we were personally ready to wisely purchase a home. We are grateful for the ability to afford a home and are humbled the Lord would allow us to build a brand new place that suits our personal needs, style, and professional requirements.

Without going into too much of the nitty gritty details I wanted to share a some of the basic aspects of our home. We are super willing to share more details for anyone who has any questions - so just send me a message or email!

Home Details:

  • 4 bedrooms (we use one as an office, one as a guest room, one as Eden's room, and the master is ours)

  • 2 baths (one tub / shower, the master is a walk in-shower)

  • Open floor plan kitchen / living room

  • Small Lani

  • Home gym (in the garage)

  • Walk in pantry and master closet

  • Separate laundry / drop zone space

We furnished most of the home with gifted hammy-down furniture but did purchase some necessary pieces. Our builder gave us some free "incentive money" to use on upgrades for the home. The bulk of the upgrade money was used for quartz countertops, appliances, electrical upgrades, ceiling fans, and blinds. We were extremely grateful for this incentive cash and put it to great use making upgrades that would automatically increase the value of our home.

Bright and white was our ascetic! We lived in such DARK apartments that I wanted as bright as possible for the inside. It feels spacious, fresh, and clean haha.

We loved our builder and love the area we live in.

We have enjoyed being home-owners (although there are the expected learning curves and hiccups).

And we love sharing these snippets of life with The Frugal Fam.

Until next time!
