Well, it has been a bit since I have published a post and I figured I would throw a little life update in here at the start!
On August 7th, 2020 I headed into my 37-week appointment (with a Friday full of plans) and was very quickly sent to the hospital when they found out Eden had stopped growing and my placenta had stopped providing vital nutrients to her. Later that day Danny and I got checked into the hospital and they began inducing me later that night. The reasoning was that they needed to get her out of me ASAP so she could gain weight and grow. Her heart rate was very unstable with each contraction and they were monitoring it closely. Around 4:00 am I was only 50% effaced and less than 1 centimeter dilated. I asked for my epidural and 5 minutes after them placing it they lost her heart rate completely. With much effort and lots of scary injections and internal apparatuses they quickly rushed me back to the OR for an emergency C-section. My epidural had not fully set in so I was feeling quite a bit of pain and shaking very uncontrollably. I don't remember much (as they gave me strong narcotics to helo with the pain once they got Eden out). But it was indeed one of the most incredible moments of my life. She was born August 8th, 202 at 4:47 am weighing 5 lbs 5 oz. She spent 3 days in the NICU and we spent a total of 6 days in the hospital. Eden is doing amazing and I have made a full recovery (physically...still recovering mentally lol).
Two days after being discharged from the hospital we CLOSED on our first HOME (yes, the timing could not have been worse). We moved the following Saturday and have been just enjoying the transition into parenthood and homeownership! A blog post about our home and home buying process is coming soon!
Third-Trimester Must-Haves
The third-trimester seems like ages ago but it was by far the hardest. The aches and pains were bad, the waddle was real, and sleeping was impossible without peeing every 30 minutes. Heres what got me though:
Heating Pad- A heating pad is a must. I needed it for my neck, legs, and upper back. Note: be sure you steer clear of using it on your lower back (near baby) and always check with your doctor first.
Pregnancy Massage Oil- I loved one I got in my Oh Baby Box from Aminnah Skin Care. My sweet husband would try and massage my back each night!
Stretchy T-Shirt Dresses- I mainly got mien from Aerie but any t-shirt dress would have done. No pants, please. Especially being 100 degrees in the middle of FL summer!
One-Piece Swim Suits- I love a good one piece but Aerie has ones that tie in the back. Allowing it to grow through the entire pregnancy! I just sized up. P.S. Click here for 25% your purchase at American Eagle and Aerie
Peppermint Essential Oils- I am still suffering from a bloody and stuffy nose. The only thing that seemed to help in pregnancy and postpartum was dabbing some essential oils right under my nose at night!
What’s the official birth date: Due date-August 25, 2020 - but came on August 8, 2020
COVID-19 concerns? Danny was the only one allowed for the birth and postpartum stay (our sweet family would bring food to the lobby for him). I had to be tested upon arrival - it was not fun, but it was negative! We did not have to wear masks most of the time, but I think that was due to the nature of my situation. We did wear masks in the NICU and all staff, nurses, and docs had masks at all times.
Any Stretch Marks? Got them after I gave birth on the sides of my hips but they didn't show up till then. Weird how that happens! I also have a few around my cesarian scar.
Baby Girl's name? Eden Marie
The hardest part of postpartum? The physical recovery and mental recovery. I had a little PTSD for sure. Adjusting to NO sleep is very hard. It's a huge adjustment overall.
Weight Gain/lost? Started at 110 lbs and ended at 135 lbs. 7 weeks postpartum as I am writing this I have a bit to go before prepregnancy weight, but I'm in no rush!
Fully recovered? Yes! Finally feeling like my normal self. My core is still very weak and I am still numb from the surgery though.
As always thanks for reading. If you have any questions or inquiries please contact me! :)
